[Home] | [Questions] | [Order Qpage Deluxe] [Use Qpage] Qpage FAQ Where is Qpage? Click here to go to Qpage. What happens after I click the "Create" button? Qpage will create your page and it will appear on your screen for you to see. Then, you will be given the option to have the HTML code for the page you've created sent to your email address. You'll need to save the HTML code if you want to post your page on the web. What is HTML? Hypertext Markup Language (HTML for short), is a language that formats text for the web. HTML enables line breaks, space between paragraphs, hypertext links, graphics, bold & italic text, text of different sizes and colors, centered text, background colors and images, tables, and all of the other features seen on web pages. Without HTML, the page you are looking at would look like this. After I click the "Create" button, will my page actually be on the internet? No, only the HTML code for it will be created. In order for the page to be accessible on the internet, a file containing that HTML code has to be posted on a web server. You can ask your internet provider (the company you pay monthly fees to) whether your account includes server space for you to post pages. If so, your provider should be able to give you instructions on how to upload your page. (If you don't have server space, or just prefer not to concern yourself with the procedures involved, take a look at Qpage Deluxe information. With Qpage Deluxe, your page will be posted on the internet automatically, and you can easily make changes to your page as often as you want.) How can I make changes to my page? Since your free page is not stored on our web server (see above), you cannot make changes to it the way you would with Qpage Deluxe. To change the page you've created, you can either use free Qpage again to make a revised version of your page, or make changes directly in the HTML code that was generated and sent to you by Qpage. (If you choose the second method, be careful not to remove any characters like these: < > , or any of the letters that appear within them, because you will be removing HTML code that formats your page for the web.) Can I delete my page? There is nothing to "delete". The page is not on the internet (see above). All that has happens when you use the free version of Qpage is that it sends you the HTML code that comprises a web page. To be accessed on the internet, a file containing that HTML code must be on a web server (see above). If I click the "Create" button, will somebody bother me? Not at all. You won't receive any calls from salespeople or anything like that. All that will happen is that you'll be able to view the page you've made with Qpage, and you'll have the opportunity to have the HTML code for your page automatically sent to you by email so that you can use it. If I have the HTML sent to me, will somebody bother me? No. The only thing that will happen is Qpage will send you a message that confirms that your page has been created, and provides you the HTML code for your page. No salesperson will call you, and your name, address or other information will not be sold or submitted to any mailing lists. From time to time, we may email you information about updates or improvements to Qpage, but we will, of course, stop sending you mail if you ask us to. I would like a more attractive page. What can I do? For more design options, take a look at Qpage Deluxe information. Qpage Deluxe provides expanded formatting and layout options, plus a choice of over 50 textured and patterned background images and 16 text colors. Can I add hypertext links, graphics, order forms or other features to my page? Yes. Links, graphics, order forms, and all other features you have seen on web pages can be added to the page(s) you create with Qpage. The cost is very low, compared to the cost of professional web page design "from scratch", because much of the work has already been done by Qpage and you. For more information, see Qpage Customization. How will people find my page on the internet? The first step in publicizing a web page is to register it with some search engines and directories, such as WebCrawler, Infoseek and Yahoo. (If you've been "surfing" for a while, you are probably familiar with these and several others.) Registration with most search engines is free. Just go to their page and look for information on "registration", "add URL", or "submit URL". If you'd like to save some time and register with a large number of search engines in one fell swoop, there are services on the web that will register your page with a large number of search tools. Some charge for their services, and others are free. Some search engine registration services for you to look into: Submit It!: Register your page on 15 of the most popular search tools by filling out one online form.
